Time clocks have historically been vague measures of employee time and attendance on the manufacturing shop floor. Lost in the timecard data was always the time spent by an employee in non-value added, in-direct cost time such as breaks and searching for tools. With advancements in manufacturing software in general, and Graphical User Interface (GUI) terminals specifically, employee time and actual productivity are now more accurately assessed.
